    Overall Duties and Responsibilities:

    The Advertising Assistant is an administrative support position working closely with other administrative support staff to provide support for the outside Multimedia Sales Consultants and Advertising Director. This position is also responsible for placing all local digital sales online, tracking digital sales, input of legal ads for publications and telemarketing sales projects as assigned.  

    The Advertising Assistant is part of the Advertising Sales Support Staff to:

    • Process and track digital and print orders
    • Ensure correct ad placement, fulfillment and billing of all advertising categories
    • Make sure ad orders are entered, confirmed and published correctly
    • Coordinate the production of sales flyers and other marketing materials
    • Provide daily administrative and back-up support
    • Provide excellent customer service

    This position also demands computer proficiency and accuracy for all data input; able to remain calm while working at a fast pace in a fast paced environment.

    This position requires a valid California driver’s license and must provide proof of auto insurance. Local travel is required.


    • 2-3 years office support experience.
    •             Excellent customer service
    • Compelling verbal and written communication skills
    • Accuracy in data entry
    • Talent and ability to support and assist outside sales staff
    • First point of contact for customers placing legal advertising
    • Backup front counter circulation customer service reps
    • Work with customers who are placing obituary ads
    • Strong problem solving, follow-up, and decision-making skills
    • Ability to keep abreast of company products and services
    • Excellent grammar, spelling, math, and punctuation skills
    • Proficiency to plan, organize, and prioritize workflow, and respond effectively to multiple interruptions and changing priorities
    • Capacity to multi-task and work in a team environment
    • Power to motivate oneself to achieve personal and department goals
    • Ability to adapt objectives, approaches, and behaviors in response to rapidly changing priorities and situations
    •           Adhere to Times-Standard/Digital First Media policies and procedures.
    •           Meet minimum standards of performance.
    •           Other duties as assigned
