Southern California News Group (SCNG), the publisher of 11 Southern California newspapers including The Orange County Register, Los Angeles Daily News, The Press-Enterprise and The (San Bernardino County) Sun, is seeking an experienced journalist to serve as the group’s night editor. This is a critical position in our organization with responsibility for coordinating news content across publications and platforms on deadline, working closely with senior editors and other stakeholders from each property as well as with our design center management team. The night editor is SCNG’s senior assignment editor after hours and on Saturdays, working closely with top editors from our properties, digital producers and design center management to ensure content is properly deployed to all platforms. The night editor also backs up senior editors and city editors on later stories, makes decisions on late-breaking news and coordinates with team leaders on stories in progress or to be assigned the next day.
We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious editor who thrives on news and who is eager to make a difference. Excellent organizational abilities are a must in this role, which requires managing incoming content from a large geography into eleven different websites and print publications.
