The SCNG social media producer has a job entirely focused on social media, primarily on the branded core accounts of the organization. The producer supports the work of the SCNG social media team by producing or iterating on work as assigned by the Social Media Director. The producer will help seek out images and videos and prepare them for publication, or share regional posts across multiple sites. The producer will also be tapped to help with breaking news or other live assignments. Specific duties include:
Produce and schedule posts for branded accounts under the direction of the Social Media Editor based on an editorial calendar. Amplify shares across multiple sites and platforms as directed. Support city and section editors with daily stories as needed.
Look for opportunities to repurpose evergreen content from archives.
Support breaking news staff as needed by monitoring social media accounts, curating and soliciting permissions as needed.
Assist editors by looking for opportunities with trending stories and analytics.
Collect, crop, illustrate or collage strong images for social media posts.
Broad knowledge of social media platforms and how to use them efficiently — especially video — including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Google+, Pinterest, Tumblr, etc. This includes terms of service, tone and community quirks.
In tune with current pop culture and local/national news events and be able to follow social trends as they develop and react to them quickly.
Digital photo editing skills, including photoshop or other image editing software.
Attention to detail, copy editing and writing skills.
Knowledge of social media analytics and social media publishing tools such as CrowdTangle, SocialFlow, EchoBox, Tweetdeck, Hootsuite, etc.
Experience covering live events.
Video skills, even just basic iMovie edits, are a big plus.
Knowledge of social tools like ScribbleLive, etc. and ability to write in AP style with a personality and sense of humor.
Consistent posts and improved use of images and videos on branded accounts
More use of platforms other than FB and Twitter.
Increased click-through rate from branded FB pages.
Increased social media referrals
