    Overview

    Staff photographer at the Marin Independent Journal, a daily newspaper serving readers in Marin County, California. #BANG #Mid-Senior level

    Responsibilities

    The staff photographer is responsible for making story-telling photos for all sections of the newspaper and website, including news, features, and sports. Cover spot news and be able to turn around photos quickly on deadline. Must have an understanding of the assigned stories and be able to communicate that via photos with context and visual impact. Gather accurate and complete information for AP-style photo captions. Be able to work independently and enterprise art. Maintain photographic equipment and digital archives. Create online galleries. Communicate effectively with reporters and editors. Adhere to photojournalistic standards and ethics.

    Qualifications

    Photographer with journalism background, daily newspaper experience preferred, degree in photojournalism a plus.

    Proficiency with DSLR cameras and lenses, and lighting equipment.

    Proficiency with Photoshop and transmitting files from the field.

    Have an understanding of and ability to meet deadlines.
