    The Community Manager reports to the Tour Director.  This is a non-exempt position that is responsible for engaging with the host communities of both Denver Post Community Foundation (DPCF) Bike Tours: Ride The Rockies (RTR) and Pedal The Plains (PTP) including the planning and implementation of all Tour Headquarter activities.  This includes but not exclusively: site layout, shuttles, meals, camping, community involvement, expo, waste management and showers.


    • Develop annual operational plan for all DPCF Bike Tour Headquarters activities and Community Involvement
    • Drive logistical coordination to produce a well-executed event and implementation of Headquarters for each of the DPCF Bike Tours
    • Build relationships and act as the primary liaison with local organizing committees
    • Ensure all community deadlines are met and information is disseminated appropriately
    • Responsible for all elements of event safety in Communities and Headquarter locations including attention to risk management and crisis communication plans to ensure safety for all involved
    • Secure all permits required for Headquarter activities are secured.  Including but not exclusively: special events liquor licenses, camping permits, parking permits, special event permits
    • Ensure appropriate Certificate of Insurances are secured from all appropriate parties
    • Secure and manage all vendors for Community and Headquarter activities as needed. Including but not exclusively:  Tables, chairs, barricades, signage, waste management, shuttles, entertainment equipment, etc. Maintain a focus on cost saving measure by bidding out vendors.
    • Produce list of all supplies needed and coordinate with Tour Director all purchasing, packing and distribution of appropriate event supplies before, during and after each DPCF Bike Tour for all Community and Headquarter activities
    • Ensure all Headquarter team members are sufficiently trained and have appropriate materials including but not exclusively detailed timelines, shuttle schedules, meal information, community activity information
    • Solicit community involvement from local businesses and organizations to provide discounts for participants, expo participation and other activities as needed in the DPCF Bike Tour
    • Plan and assist in the implementation of Community Tent Activities including entertainment, team activities, announcements, check presentations, etc.
    • Coordinate with the Expo Sales Manager, Team Liaison/Tour Coordinator and other DPCF Bike Tour Team members to ensure the needs of the Expo, Team Village, Partners and Sponsors are being met
    • Prepare and implement wayfinding plan to ensure professional look of all DPCF Bike Tours at Headquarters
    • Monitor expense budget for Communities and Headquarters including maintaining accurate records of invoices and expenses ensuring excellent stewardship of DPCF resources
    • Acquire in-kind contributions as needed and appropriate for Headquarters locations and track for budget reporting
    • Work with Volunteer Manager to define volunteer opportunities and ensure appropriate communication to same to ensure community volunteer needs are met
    • Ensure day/week of event plans are implemented and appropriate materials are provided
    • Ensure risk management requirements are met for all tours and events, efficiently managing completion and collection of volunteer waivers, background checks and required training
    • Assist Tour Director as needed
    • Perform other related duties as required to support and strengthen the mission and purpose of DPCF


    • Bachelor’s degree preferred
    • A minimum of 4+ years of event management experience
    • Strong logistical and operational knowledge and experience planning multi day events
    • Ability to represent the DPCF in a professional manner
    • Ability to engage others in conversation and solicit needed information
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Goal oriented individual with proven ability to meet deadlines and work independently
    • Strong analytical and reasoning skills
    • Ability to coordinate multiple deadline driven tasks
    • Demonstrated attention to detail and good organizational skills
    • Must be willing to ask questions, think creatively, embrace change and brainstorm new ideas
    • Experience with databases and technology preferred
    • Strong interpersonal skills, flexible attitude, upbeat and with a good sense of humor, team player, ability to work with a diverse staff and volunteer team
    • Good Attitude:  with every event there are things come up that are unexpected. DPCF Bike Tour team members must know how to deal with stressful situations with a calm demeanor and outlook
    • This position will be required to drive/travel on DPCF business.  Team member must possess a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and reliable transportation.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and G Suite
