    Responsibilities

    We're looking for a Packaging Supervisor to join our team.  Responsibilities include:

    • Supervise the mailroom work group work shift (11 - 14 employees per shift)
    • Produce shift paperwork utilizing Excel, and other 3rd party software. This included beginning of the shift pallet tag production per edition and end of shift reporting
    • Operate the Magnapac insert machine for inserting of commercial product that requires inserting
    • Operate and troubleshoot forklift, Accraply Notes application machine, and all other mailroom equipment when needed to facilitate product flow
    • Trouble shoot equipment issues during production and coordinate with maintenance regarding repair and upkeep of mailroom and insert equipment
    • Coordinate with Pressroom regarding shift production schedules, product quality and draw issues
    • Coordinate with Distribution and our 3rd party trucking partners to optimize distribution of printed product
    • Supervise safe work practices during the shift and compile necessary safety training and injury reporting when necessary
    • Coordinate with Anaheim Insert Facility regarding production flow and transportation of product between the two locations

    The work schedule for this role is:

    • Monday 6pm - 2:30am
    • Tuesday 6pm - 2:30am
    • Wednesday and Thursday Off
    • Friday 6pm - 2:30am
    • Saturday 7pm - 3:30am
    • Sunday 7pm - 3:30am

    Qualifications

    • Ability to learn and troubleshoot multiple peices of equipment including: Forklift, Magnapac Insert Machine, Accraply Note Applicator, various Newsprint stackers and bundlers
    • Ability to work with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and with 3rd party programs utilized in generating paperwork and reporting of shift production
    • Ability to work successfully in a supervisory role
    • General knowledge of the newspaper production and distribution process would be helpful
